海镜堂(Haijing Hall)
海镜堂为明代隐士吴从周所辟,隆庆年间东洋倭寇侵扰潮阳,吴从周为人至孝,扶母避居至此,在先贤张鲁庵归隐处“云水结庐”旁设海镜堂居住,从事耕读,教化村民,对海门文化教育贡献卓著。为纪念他,万历年间配祀忠贤祠,礼部尚书、博罗人韩日缵为之撰写“吴隐君进祀忠贤祠记”,有《海镜堂集》存世。
Haijing Hall Haijing Hall was built by Wu Congzhou, a hermit of Ming Dynasty. During the Japanese invasion of Chaoyang in Long Qing Period of Ming Dynasty(1567-1573). Wu Congzhou, a filial son, evacuated with his mother to live here. Near the residence of Zhang Lu’an he built Haijing Hall, which was also named “The Cottage of Clouds and Rivers”. He lived as a farmer and educator, contributing greatly to the literacy education in Haimen. In commemoration of him, he was offered to be worshipped at the Temple of Loyalty and Virtue during Wanli Period of Ming Dynasty(1573-1620. Han Rizuan, a courtesy minister at that time from Boluo county, wrote an account about the event: “Hermit Wu came into worship in the Temple of Loyalty and Virtue”, which was also recorded in Volume of Haijing Hall. |
